11 Sep National Environmental Services & Housekeeping Week
This week is National Environmental Services and Housekeeping Week and we want to celebrate the hardworking men and women who work behind the scenes to keep our hospital in top shape! At UNC Lenoir, we depend on the critical role of environmental services every day and recognize the teamwork it takes to care for our complex healthcare environment.
Many people think that the main role of environmental services and housekeeping is to simply clean the hospital, but in fact the primary task is infection control. According to Lisa Brown, Environmental Services Manager, the environmental services team consists of the “professional cleaners of the organization.”
On a daily basis, the environmental services team tackles anything from deep cleaning patient rooms, distributing linens, setting up for meetings and events, and regulating waste. In fact, patient rooms are cleaned not once, not twice, but three times each day, ensuring that each patient has a comfortable and pleasant stay.
This week, we honor our 48 members of the environmental services team who spend countless hours preventing infection, maintaining sustainable buildings, lending a helping hand and working tirelessly to ensure that our healthcare facilities are among the best.
Nestled in the heart of Lenoir County, UNC Lenoir’s mission is to ensure exceptional healthcare to the people we serve. We are a not-for-profit hospital dedicated to the community we serve by offering quality inpatient, outpatient and preventive healthcare services that are close to home.
